Minister of Education IMPORTANT School Change Announced to Students All over Romania

The Minister of Education officially announces a very important change for students in Romanian schools, one that was in preparation for a very long time, but which is only now being put into practice together with the National Strategy for the Prevention and Combating of Anti-Semitism, xenophobia and hate speech .

The Minister of Education also talks below about honoring the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, and this is because today it is commemorated all over the world, and students in Romanian schools will learn more about what happened during the dark period of Europe that began in the 1930s and it ended in 1945.

"78 years ago, on January 27, the concentration and extermination camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau, a place of suffering for more than a million Jews, Poles or Roma and their families, was liberated. We have a duty to honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and to ensure that such events do not happen again.

And, because "to honor" is always part of "not to forget", starting with the 2023-2024 school year, the discipline "Jewish History. The Holocaust" will be included in the framework plans of high school education.

The Ministry of Education will continue to implement the provisions of the National Strategy for the prevention and combating of anti-Semitism, xenophobia, radicalization and hate speech and to support education in the spirit of dignity, tolerance and respect for fundamental human rights."
