Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the president of the International Olympic Committee in harsh terms, and this is because Russian and Belarusian athletes will be allowed to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, under certain conditions, but in the context of the war in Ukraine, the Ukrainian president is very far from being happy with this decision.
Volodymyr Zelensky invites the president of the International Olympic Committee to the city of Bakhmut to see what a war zone looks like in which Russia destroys everything in its path, but of course it is unlikely that this will actually bring any change to the decision taken by the international forum.
There is no neutrality when such a war takes place. And we know how often tyrannies try to use sports for their ideological interests.
It is obvious that any neutral flag of Russian athletes is stained with blood.
We can only be disappointed by the statements of the current president of the International Olympic Committee. I have spoken to him several times and never heard how he will protect sports from war propaganda if he returns Russian athletes to international competitions.
We will do everything to ensure that the world protects sports from political influence and any other influence of the terrorist state, which is simply unavoidable if Russian athletes participate in competitions.
And especially – at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Ukrainian athletes are forced to defend the lives of their loved ones and the freedom of our people from Russian aggression. The Russian strikes took the lives of hundreds and hundreds of Ukrainian men and women who could have brought their talents to world sports.
I invite Mr. Bach to Bakhmut. To see with his own eyes that neutrality does not exist.
