Defense Minister Informs Romanians Decisions LAST TIME NATO Moldova

The Minister of Defense officially informs the Romanians about new very important, last-minute decisions that were taken recently, and which bring to our immediate attention the fact that Angel Tilvar was present in Chisinau today to meet with his counterpart and to discuss the collaboration between the countries.

The Minister of Defense talks below about the discussions he had with his counterpart in Chisinau regarding the situation of the Republic of Moldova, but also the help that is offered by our country to support it in the European processes that it has undertaken to go through future.

"I met, today, in Chisinau, with my counterpart Anatolie Nosatîi. We discussed the intensification of bilateral cooperation, including in combating the effects of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine, which multidimensionally affects the Republic of Moldova. Romania is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova and supports the efforts to achieve credible and modern defensive capabilities by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova.

I also reiterated our country's full support for the advancement of the Republic of Moldova along the pro-European path, as well as the importance of participating in the projects subsumed under the regional initiative the Process of Meetings of Defense Ministers from South-Eastern Europe, formed in which Romania will exercise the presidency starting from second half of this year, until 2024.

"I reiterate, and on this occasion, the support that Romania provides within the mechanisms of the European Union for increasing the funds allocated through the European Peace Facility, both for strengthening resilience and for developing the defense capabilities of the Republic of Moldova", said Minister Angel Tîlvar.

In this context, the Romanian official presented the active contribution of our country in support of the Republic of Moldova within the NATO Initiative for the Development of Defense Capability. "I wish to reconfirm Romania's commitment as a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the support in the efforts to achieve credible and modern defensive capabilities by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova".

At the same time, the efforts of the Chisinau Government to contribute to peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the UN and the EU were appreciated. The two officials decided to continue the high-level dialogue, including during the next meeting of the Romanian-Moldovan Joint Military Commission, which will take place in Romania, in the next period."
