Ligia Deca Officially Announces IMPORTANT Legislative Changes School Students

Ligia Deca officially announces a series of very important legislative changes that involve students from all schools in Romania, and this is because we are primarily talking about the Baccalaureate, which will undergo a series of changes, but not this year , but only from 2027, so no one should be scared.

Ligia Deca also talks about other changes related to teachers' salaries in Romania, but also about rectors' mandates, another extremely important topic for which there are changes in the new Education Laws at the moment, they being implemented after the laws are voted in Parliament.

"It depends on the test. This will be discussed as well, in the organization regulations of the Baccalaureate exam. I emphasize again, the new forms of national assessment and admission to high school and Baccalaureate will not come into force starting from the school year following the adoption of the law, but will come into force either in 2027 at the earliest, for the national assessment and Baccalaureate, if we adopt the law in Parliament until the end of this school year, whether we are talking about 2028 or even 2029, let's see how long it takes to restore the framework plans and high school programs. So, it's not a matter that happens overnight. We will ensure predictability in the system.

This decision was taken in order to have a legislative unit, in order not to have a provision that directly targets the salary scale in a special law. The idea would be for the unitary salary law to include all the necessary elements so that, in our case, the education staff is financially motivated. However, as I said, the political commitment remains that, for beginners in education, the salary will start from the level of the average gross salary in the economy.

Of course, there were discussions, in the process of interministerial approval, which formula, from the point of view of legislative technique, is the most appropriate, in such a way as to ensure, as far as I know, an order from a legislative point of view, of the technique in this sense, as well as to guarantee what we already committed politically when we launched the education laws into debate.

Perhaps an interesting change, that I saw that there was a discussion about this, is that when we talk about the terms of rectors, we already knew that it is possible to have only two terms of 5 years each, without taking considering possible interruptions, that it is suspensions, that it is interruptions for other reasons.

What we have done in the interministerial approval process is to clarify what happens with the ongoing mandate, that is, when the law comes into force, a director will have an ongoing mandate, that counts to the maximum of two that the law provides .”
