Volodymyr Zelenski: Evil has returned to Europe after more than 7 decades since the fall of Nazism

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, talks about the evil that has returned to Europe after more than 7 decades since the fall of Nazism, only this time the terror comes from the east, not from the west, and it is not exactly an enemy that has long disappeared from the country.

"The success of the Ukrainians in defending against Russian aggression is certainly an antidote to other aggressions. The world must see that a free nation is capable of defending freedom from invaders. If we can do it, so can others.

If they act as boldly, as precisely and in the same unity with other free nations. I am grateful to each of our warriors who give Ukraine this result! I am grateful to every partner who helps our warriors with the weapons they need to be effective!

I would like to especially celebrate the warriors of the 96th Kiev missile defense brigade. For this and the day before, they did an absolutely great job!

Of course, today, as always, I thank our troops who are fighting in the fiercest areas. Maryinka, Bakhmut, Avdiivka… Thank you to all those who defend Ukraine out there for their seriousness and resistance!

I held a General Staff meeting. The commanders of the operational directorates, the commander in chief and the chiefs of the intelligence services submitted reports. By the way, the reports of Budanov and Lytvynenko were particularly thorough and relevant, and we will take certain steps based on them - steps that will strengthen our defenses.

Glory to all our warriors who are now fighting for Ukraine! May the victory over the present evil of Russism be the best honor to the memory of those who fought and defeated Nazism!

Unfortunately, the evil has returned. Just as 80 years ago, evil rushed into our towns and villages, so it is happening now. Although now a different aggressor, the Racists have the same goal as the Nazis: enslavement or destruction.

And just like in World War II, we are not alone against evil. We fight against it, relying on the combined strength of the peoples of the free world.

Many years ago, the tradition of celebrating Europe Day was established on our continent to mark the achievements of peace and unity. Today, unity on our continent brings us closer to celebrating the first day of our peace. Every year, starting tomorrow, May 9, we will commemorate our historic unity - the unity of all Europeans who destroyed Nazism and will defeat racism.

This will be the Day of Europe, which has supported Ukrainians through all nine years of Russian aggression and 439 days of full-scale invasion. This will be the Day of Europe, which helps us to fight in all directions. This will be Europe Day - our ally. This will be Europe's Day - ours, which Ukraine has made, is making and will always be a part of."
