Today, at the DSU headquarters, we had the special pleasure of receiving the visit of a delegation from the United States of America -Alabama National Guard- consisting of COL Mike Davenport and MAJ Charles Dillbeck.

During the meeting, Dr. Raed Arafat spoke about the integrated emergency system in Romania, about the ability of this system to react and respond quickly in extreme situations and, at the same time, its ability to deal with complex situations.

The state-of-the-art equipment available to the rescuers, purchased through non-refundable European funds, as well as the training of the intervention personnel and the population, were other points of interest during the discussion.

At the same time, the head of the DSU emphasized the various agreements, partnerships or memoranda of understanding signed with countries in the European Union, respectively countries outside the European space, in the field of emergency management.

The help offered by Romania, Greece and France in limiting the spread of wildfires, the help offered to Turkey following the major earthquake at the beginning of this year are just a few examples of good practices in situations where the lives of communities are in real danger.

Also, during the discussions, the close connection with civil protection was highlighted, the excellent civil-military cooperation resulting from various support missions, but also through the prism of exercises adapted to several types of disasters.
