Marcel Bolos transmits an official last-minute announcement, which targets millions of Romanians from all over the country, and this is because he is talking to all the citizens of the country about the fact that in the last 3 months, energy cards were used for 3 million payments, to the beneficiaries who received them.
Marcel Bolos explains below the fact that almost 700 million LEI were paid to the energy groups in Romania, and not only, for the invoices issued to Romanians from all over the country, a truly impressive amount, but by the end of the year it should to be even much higher, as other bills will come.
"Between February 20 and May 25, 2023, 3 million payments were made through the energy card, the total value of the amounts paid reaching 678 million lei. Of these, 145.000 payments, worth over 30 million lei, were made through the online platform, and for firewood, energy cards were used by over 92.000 beneficiaries.
The amount paid, in cash, to compensate the cost of firewood is 62,4 million lei. The compensation of energy bills is one of the programs with the largest number of beneficiaries that we have run in support of vulnerable people, through the Operational Program Helping Disadvantaged People 2014-2020 (POAD) and constitutes real support for the payment of energy bills for 4 millions of Romanians.
Together with Poșta Română, we follow the way this program is carried out day by day in order to intervene when we identify difficulties in implementation. Just this month, the regulations were supplemented and simplified to make this support more effective.
Thus, in a single month - May - more than 5 times more payments for wood were made than in the first two months of the program. Moreover, we made sure that we allow the payment of debts older than 2023 and that the first installment of 700 lei transferred to the cards can be used until the end of the year. I remind you that from September we will provide another 700 lei on the 2,1 million cards.
To date, more than 2 million energy cards intended for vulnerable Romanians have been issued and distributed, and 17.700 social inquiries have been resolved, for which cards are issued and distributed. We remind you that more than 4 million people benefit from energy cards, the total budget of the program being 2,8 billion lei."
