NATO: New Measures to Support Ukraine's Accession to the Alliance

NATO New Measures to Support Ukraine's Accession to the Alliance

NATO announces through Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that a series of new measures are being prepared to support Ukraine's accession to the military alliance, and this is because a 3-part plan should be agreed at the Vilnius Summit, which should bring country closer to the alliance in the near future.

NATO conveys the fact that a special council will be established so that the military organization can cooperate more easily with Ukraine, but also in the long term, because after the end of the Russian war, many people expect the Ukrainians to join this military alliance.

"Stoltenberg says Vilnius summit will agree on 3-part package 'to bring Ukraine closer to NATO'." The package will include a multi-year support program "to ensure full interoperability" between Ukrainian forces and NATO, according to NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg.

The allies will also establish the NATO-Ukraine Council "to improve political ties" and reaffirm that Ukraine will become a NATO member. Stoltenberg also told reporters that President Volodymyr Zelensky would join the inaugural meeting of the new Council, adding that he was "looking forward" to the Ukrainian leader at the summit. He did not specify, however, whether Zelensky will participate in person or online."
