Sorin Grindeanu decided to make a series of last-minute announcements with very good news regarding the construction of highways in Romania, and this is because it brings to our attention the fact that multiple lots of an extremely awaited highway would be completed even before the deadline, according to the builders.
Sorin Grindeanu explains below which of the lots we are talking about, the Minister of Transport being present in the field to see how the constructions are progressing, so the estimates are based on visualizing the progress made up to now on the various lots that are currently being worked on Romania.
"On lot 4 of the Sibiu-Pitesti highway (Tigveni-Curtea de Argeș) the Austrian contractor has already started work on the tunnel with a length of over 1300 meters. Traffic on section 4 (9,86 km) of this highway must be opened no later than 2027. The pace of work is good and progress on the site has exceeded 10%.
Those from the construction company, from here, finished ahead of schedule, by a few months, on the Sibiu - Boita section, congratulations. I expect that the term here on lot 4 will also be completed before the assumed term, which is somewhere in 2027. I am convinced that you will be able to finish the works faster, even if it is almost 10 km, there are 10 km that have a lot of work of the type of bridges, tunnels, as you well know.
Congratulations once again for what you did on this section, I expect you to keep up the pace you used to us on this section as well. I want to make a special mention about what is happening on the section from Pitesti to Curtea de Arges. I also saw this morning, together with the prime minister, the progress on that construction site, and things are going very well, they are somewhere around 55% progress.
They went very well this year, in terms of an estimate for next year, they could finish, if not all, at least sections of this 30 km route, at least the one around Pitesti, Vlascov, that section can be completed. The construction of the new terminal of Traian Vuia International Airport in Timișoara, almost finished! The new terminal for international flights will increase the airport's operating capacity by more than 2 million passengers annually.
And implicitly the European importance of the Municipality of Timișoara. In order to facilitate the access of passengers, a railway line will also be built that will make a direct connection between the city of Timișoara and the International Airport. The project has a value of over 184 million lei (including VAT), is financed by POIM and must be completed by the end of this year (2023)."
