Angel Tîlvăr: The Extremely Important Memorandum for the Romanian Army in the Context of the War between Ukraine and Russia

Angel Tîlvăr The Extremely Important Memorandum The Romanian Army in the Context of the Ukraine Russia War

Angel Tîlvăr officially confirms the signing of an extremely important memorandum that directly targets both the Romanian Army, through the Romanian Naval Forces, and Romania, and this because the Minister of Defense was present in Turkey to sign an agreement related to combating sea mines from the Black Sea.

Angel Tîlvăr signed this agreement in the context in which the war in Ukraine brought a very large number of sea mines to the Black Sea, endangering the maritime traffic that takes place there every day, so this collaboration with Turkey is one that does not should be easily overlooked at the present time.

"I signed, in Istanbul, the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the operative group for combating sea mines in the Black Sea - MCM Black Sea, together with the Turkish Minister of Defense, Yaşhar Güler🇹🇷, and the Deputy Minister of Defense of Bulgaria, Atanas Zaprianov. Realizing this project was one of the priorities of my mandate, because it is our responsibility.

As riparian states and members of #NATO, let's make every effort for the security of the Black Sea, with the support and involvement of our allies. By launching MCM Black Sea we demonstrate our solidarity and shared commitment to countering the threat of drifting sea mines in the Black Sea. The aggressiveness and contempt of the Russian Federation for the norms of international law make the Black Sea not only a regional problem, but one with global implications.

I confidently await the involvement, in the future, of NATO coastal partners, the Permanent Naval Groups of #NATO and other allied states, to strengthen cooperation and interoperability in ensuring the security of the Black Sea and the Euro-Atlantic region. Nationally, we strive to achieve more.

Last month, the first of the two mine hunters purchased from Great Britain entered the service of the Romanian Naval Forces. This new capability, endowed with state-of-the-art technology, will significantly contribute to the fulfillment of mine identification and neutralization missions in the Black Sea. In addressing the essential issue of Black Sea security, Angel Tîlvăr stated that other initiatives, such as NATO's Air Police missions, have an important role in maintaining regional security.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation to our valued ally, Turkey, for the recent deployment of four F-16 aircraft and 80 military personnel to one of our main air bases. The Romanian official emphasized that NATO's full attention must be maintained on the security developments in the Black Sea region where, against the norms of international law, the Russian Federation continues its indiscriminate attacks targeting the Ukrainian civil infrastructure, causing significant destruction, with a major impact on the civilian population. said Angel Tîlvăr."
