WhatsApp Explains IMPORTANT Measures Officially Imposed for iPhone and Android

WhatsApp, by far the largest messaging platform in the world, is explaining to billions of customers the official measures imposed worldwide now.

WhatsApp regrets

WhatsApp, the messaging platform with more than 2 billion users with iPhone and Android phones, brings to our immediate attention the very important measures that are officially imposed on everyone in order to provide protection against the distribution of disinformation on a global level.

WhatsApp explains below what kind of partnership it concluded with an organization that verifies some of the information that is published within the messaging platform, and this is because it is necessary for people to have only valid information brought to their attention, the platform facing many or with the mass distribution of false information.

IFCN fact-checking organizations on WhatsApp

WhatsApp cares deeply about the safety of our users, and we continue to focus on preventing misinformation. If the information you receive sounds suspicious or inaccurate, you can verify the information with these IFCN fact-checking organizations.

Partnership with fact checkers on WhatsApp

Since 2018, WhatsApp has partnered with fact-checking organizations around the world. More than 50 fact-checking organizations use WhatsApp products to ensure that WhatsApp users have access to accurate information. These include the WhatsApp Business app and the WhatsApp Business Platform.

Your text messages, voice messages and calls are secure. Because WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted, only you and the person you're communicating with can read or listen. That's why our fact-checking partnerships on WhatsApp rely on user-initiated reporting.

Users can report potential misinformation to trusted fact-checking organizations in the country where the message originated. By sending a message to these verification organizations, the organizations can respond by sharing a verification article.

Supporting the fact-checking ecosystem on WhatsApp

We work directly with IFCN and support organizations that are innovating and experimenting with using WhatsApp to combat disinformation. We do this in addition to our partnerships with the fact checkers in the WhatsApp Business app and the WhatsApp Business Platform.
