The Minister of Defense officially announced the last-minute strategic activities that were carried out for Romania and the Romanian Army, and this is because the visit of Minister Angel Tîlvăr to Morocco is brought to our attention, in an attempt to strengthen the relations between the two countries now .

The Minister of Defense details below why it is important for Romania and Morocco to intensify their cooperation in this period when the war in Ukraine brings many challenges, and our country needs as many allies as possible, including in Africa, in order to could defend interests as effectively as possible now.

"On the sidelines of the official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, I had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita. On this occasion, I highlighted Romania's desire to develop cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco, which is one of our country's main commercial partners in the Middle East and North Africa.

Minister Tîlvăr highlighted Romania's firm desire to develop collaboration with African states, in the context of the launch by our country of the National Strategy for Africa, called "Romania - Africa: Partnership for the future through peace, development and education, a framework document of vision". Angel Tîlvăr showed that, starting from solid traditional bases, Romania aims to bring to fruition the potential of collaboration in various fields with the Kingdom of Morocco.

The total trade figure exceeded 1,3 billion dollars last year, with a trade balance in favor of Romania, which exports to Morocco passenger cars, parts and components from the automotive industry, industrial products and equipment for the generation, transmission and distribution of energy, equipment for industrial automation and telecommunications. Also, currently, almost 2.000 Moroccan citizens are studying in Romania, which creates important premises for strengthening cooperation between our countries.

In this context, the Romanian official emphasized the importance of signing, for the first time, the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco regarding cooperation in the military and technical field, a document that will ensure the legal framework for collaboration in areas of mutual interest such as the defense industry, training personnel in military institutions, training and exercises, military medicine and cyber security.

For his part, Minister Bourita mentioned the importance that Morocco attaches to the relationship with Romania and emphasized the need to reinvigorate the dialogue at all levels, as well as the need to identify new areas of cooperation. During the meeting, the significant landmarks of the security agendas of the two countries were addressed, the discussions focusing on the situation in the Black Sea area, in Africa and the Middle East, as well as on the efforts of both sides to ensure stability at the regional level."
