Electrica, one of the largest suppliers of electricity and natural gas in all of Romania at the present time, decided to bring to the attention of all people a series of official explanations that we should know now. More precisely, those from Electrica decided to explain to the Romanians what is happening from the point of view of calculating the monthly electricity consumption, based on the consumption index registered by the measuring equipment.
Electrica says that the responsibility for the correct recording of consumption data from subscribers belongs to the electricity distributor, not to the supplier or to the customer, so that if the data is not correct, the fault does not lie with us, in any way. This information is extremely important, because in the situation where we receive erroneous invoices, it is important to know that the problem lies with the energy distributor and not with us, the obligation of correction being with the latter.

Electrica conveys that, apart from the transmission of the self-read index by customers, the energy distributor also has the obligation to read the index for each place of consumption on a regular basis, the obligation being established by law. According to the legislation in force, the energy distributor can read the consumption index monthly, or once every 6 months, and based on this data, Electrica can issue regularization invoices for consumption.
Electrica also says that, in the case of prosumers, the periodicity of reading the meter index is one calendar month, so we are talking about a different procedure than in the case of regular consumers, which should not be too much of a surprise. On the other hand, it is important to know this information from Electrica, because based on it we can contest an erroneous invoice, to benefit from its quick correction, and not pay too much.
Electrica is not the only company that supplies electricity and natural gas and acts in this way, so these data should also apply to other energy suppliers in Romania.
