Marcel Bolos Announcement LAST MINUTE Changes to the E-invoice system

Marcel Bolos, the Minister of Finance, announced today encouraging news for the Romanian business environment: the period without fines for those who do not yet use the RO e-Invoice system will be extended by two months, until June 1, 2024. This decision comes after a close consultation and an open dialogue with the entrepreneurs' representatives, which highlighted the need for a longer adjustment period.

Since the launch of the RO e-Invoice system, the Ministry of Finance has emphasized the importance of collaboration with the private sector, recognizing the need for adjustments and improvements along the way. "We have always been open to feedback and we have incorporated the suggestions of the business environment in the evolution of the system", said Bolos. The active participation of entrepreneurs in the meetings organized by the ministry contributed significantly to the refinement and efficiency of the process.

By extending the deadline, the Government reaffirms its commitment to facilitate the transition to the complete digitization of tax processes. "Our goal is to provide all the necessary conditions for an easy adaptation to the new requirements", added the Minister of Finance. Starting from June 1, 2024, non-compliance with the deadline of 5 working days for the transmission of invoices through the RO e-Invoice system will attract sanctions.

This measure reflects requests from the business community and represents an opportunity for companies to align their procedures and systems with legal requirements without the imminent pressure of penalties. In addition, the ministry has made available to all users new detailed guidelines for using the e-Invoice system, step by step, to ensure a smooth transition.

This initiative is an important step towards the modernization of Romania's fiscal infrastructure and is proof of the Government's commitment to support economic development by facilitating adaptation to new technologies. The Minister of Finance encourages all entities involved to take advantage of this extended period to confidently comply with the requirements of the RO e-Invoice system, an essential tool in the fight against tax evasion and in promoting transparency in the business environment.
