Revolut, the digital bank with over 40 million customers globally and more than 3,5 million in Romania, becomes the first local bank to offer eSIM and one of the first in Europe to integrate this vertical into the application. Revolut eSIM enables all customers to access mobile data when traveling abroad and stay connected to the internet without experiencing interruptions or unexpected roaming charges.
Revolut customers in Romania who own phones compatible with eSIM technology will be able, from March 25, 2024, to install this service on their mobile phone, regardless of the type of plan they have – Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal or Ultra. Once installed, the eSIM allows users to load their data requirements wherever they travel, without the need for a physical SIM and without using their mobile data included in their mobile phone plan.
If a Revolut customer lands in a country and does not have access to data, they can still access the Revolut app and use all products and features, including the ability to add more mobile data.
With the eSIM installed through the Revolut app, all Revolut users, regardless of their plan, will have access to mobile data. Ultra customers will be able to use as a benefit included in their plan 3GB of mobile data to be used globally, with a continuous refresh every month.
The cost of using mobile data abroad has increased in recent years. Most mobile networks in the EU no longer allow their users to 'roam like at home' in the UK, and data rates for the rest of the world are almost always outside of standard benefits. The new product developed together with partner 1Global is a solution to this problem.
