The Romanian Government Announces New Investments in Highways and Express Roads, the Problem of Store Closures

The Romanian government speaks, through the voice of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, about the problem of closing shops on the weekend, but also about new major investments in highways and express roads, more details being available below for all interested Romanians.

Today we approve the indicators of new major investments in the road infrastructure. It is about the Craiova-Filiași highway and the Filiași-Târgu Jiu Expressway. I am convinced that we can move on to design and construction as quickly as possible, there are 51,5 kilometers of highway and 59 kilometers of expressway. It is an investment of over 3,2 billion euros from European money and from the budget.

In the last few days, I was with Minister Sorin Grindeanu on the highway construction sites, I saw that the pace of work is maintained and I am optimistic: as long as we make such investments, economic growth will be solid! That is why I say that I am not worried about the problem of the deficit because such investments bring the highest rate of multiplication in the economy and develop Romania! We are not raising taxes, but we have chosen to increase the level of investments!

In conclusion, I want to close a topic that has caused public debate, the one related to the weekend store hours. From the signals received from society, it is clear that it is not appropriate for shops to be closed on the weekend! As far as I can remember, markets were closed during the pandemic or shops were closed. I want to let you know that we are no longer at that stage. Thank you!
