The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, recently detailed the progress and new plans of his ministry in the fight against energy poverty, during an event organized in Valea Doftanei. The minister highlighted the government's achievements and continued commitment to bring significant changes in the lives of underprivileged citizens.
In 2023, Sebastian Burduja signed a partnership with the Intelligent Energy Association, entitled "Partnership for Combating Energy Poverty". The first action within this partnership was the "Homes with heat" initiative, carried out in Valea Doftanai with the energy expert, Prof. Dumitru Chisăliță and his team. "We collected and prepared wood, turning it into heat packs for about 600 families. It's a symbolic gesture by which we show our compassion and care for those in need," said Minister Burduja.
The Christmas events of the previous year also marked an important point of the campaign, when families without means received heat and light in their homes. "We are a strong community when we join forces. Together we bring the change we seek in the world", added Burduja.
In addition to these actions, the Ministry of Energy, in partnership with the Intelligent Energy Association, also launched the "Energy for Life" program. This new project aims to bring electricity to the homes of over 12.000 Romanians who still live without it, of which over 4.000 are children. "In a maximum of two years, no child will learn by candlelight in Romania," said the minister. Solutions include the installation of photovoltaic panels and storage batteries to provide a sustainable and secure energy source for isolated areas.
Special thanks were addressed to Professor Dumitru Chisăliță, the volunteers from the Intelligent Energy Association, the Romanian Red Cross, the sponsors and all those involved. "Forward, together", concluded Minister Burduja, reaffirming his commitment to improving the living conditions of Romanians through access to energy resources.
This initiative underlines the ongoing commitment of the Ministry of Energy to bring innovation and support to the most vulnerable sectors of society, marking an important step in the fight against energy poverty in Romania.
