Romania has announced a series of last-minute official decisions that the Bucharest Government is taking to complete the Schengen accession process with the lifting of land border controls, something that many people want, but it remains to be seen to what extent everything could be put into practice by Romanian officials.
Romania will continue to put pressure on Austria and Karl Nehammer in the same way it managed to obtain Schengen accession by air and sea, that is, the Prime Minister, the President and the Minister of the Interior of Romania will continue the discussions with Karl Nehammer and Gerhard Karner in order to managed to change their veto against our country
Romania will not change its tactics until now regarding the accession to Schengen, in order to manage to lift the controls at the land borders, something that should bring the desired results, at least theoretically, so it will be interesting to see if the process it will be a successful one, but how long will it last.
"Our Prime Minister recently had a very good discussion with Chancellor Nehammer in Bucharest, our president, Klaus Iohannis, also had a very good discussion with the Chancellor and I recently talked with Minister Karner. This is the framework of the discussions. We are all on the same page in Romania and we act in a very European way.
Talking to Austria on a constructive basis, as we did last year. So, despite all the obstacles and despite some expectations, this approach brings results. In the end, we all see that together, discussing, negotiating and arguing, cooperating, everyone came to the same idea: to advance with two frontiers.
