Border Police has adapted its missions to streamline traffic at border crossing points, the institution's officials announce. Around 3.800 border police officers carry out daily surveillance and control activities to prevent and combat cross-border crime.
The Border Police announces that the border formalities are carried out promptly, without long waiting times. Processing each person takes about 1-2 minutes, and congestion is caused by exceeding the capacity of the infrastructure of the border points by the large number of vehicles.
In the context of the high temperatures announced for this weekend and the expected intense traffic at the border, first aid points were placed in the main border points - Nădlac II, Borș, Giurgiu and Vama Veche - with the support of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. Volunteers and paramedics are ready to provide specialist help in case of need.
The repair works on the Bulgarian side of the Friendship Bridge between Ruse and Giurgiu, started by the Bulgarian authorities, will last approximately 730 days, taking place between 10-12 hours daily. During this period, traffic will alternate, on a single lane, in a traffic light system.
In order to avoid congestion, the Romanian Border Police recommends the use of the Trafic On-line application, which presents an average of the waiting time at the crossing points, and the use of the other border crossing points open internationally on the border with the Republic of Bulgaria, such as would be PTF Calafat and PTF Bechet (BAC) in Dolj county, PTF Zimnicea (BAC) and PTF Turnu Măgurele (BAC) in Teleorman county, PTF Călărași (BAC) in Călărași county, and border points in Constanța county: PTF Vama Veche , PTF Ostrov, PTF Negru Vodă, PTF Lipnița and PTF Dobromir, open for cars with a permissible weight of 3,5 tons and operating hours from 08.00:20.00 to XNUMX:XNUMX.
At the ITPF Giurgiu level, the control arteries and the number of border policemen were supplemented up to the maximum capacity allowed by the infrastructure of the border crossing points. Also, the border police officers act on the basis of a plan of measures in cooperation with the public institutions in the field of public order and security and maintain permanent contact with the border authorities of the neighboring state in order to order common measures.
To avoid congestion, the Romanian Border Police recommends transiting all available border crossing points. On the border with Hungary, 12 international border crossing points are operational for people, cars and trucks, and 11 border crossing points are operational on the border with Bulgaria.
