Romania made through the MAI a very important, last-minute official announcement regarding the country's borders, which shows very clearly why full entry into Schengen is necessary for our country as quickly as possible, and this is because in the last 24 hours no more less than 502.000 people passed through the border crossing points.
Romania registers most of this traffic at land borders, where there are also the greatest difficulties due to long waiting times to have border crossing formalities done, so full entry into Schengen is a necessity at the moment so that the situation at Romania's borders should be much calmer.
Romania doesn't really have anything to do at the moment, except to hope that in the end Karl Nehammer will give up the measures that have until now blocked the lifting of land border controls, full entry into Schengen being a priority for the government from Bucharest, but it remains to be seen when it will happen.
"On 10.08.2024, the border policemen from the whole country carried out the formalities for crossing the border (both in the direction of entry and exit) for over 502.000 people, Romanian and foreign citizens, and approximately 144.000 means of transport that have crossed the border.
Thus, in the direction of entry into Romania, through the land border points, but also through the air and maritime ones (arrivals from non-Schengen states), the entry formalities into the country were carried out for 253.886 people. At the same time, 72.196 means of transport entered the country. Also, 27 foreign citizens, who did not meet the conditions stipulated by the law, were not allowed to enter the country."
