Stefan-Radu Oprea, Minister of Economy, announced one of the important actions for Romania in which he participated, and this is because he was present during this week at the commissioning of a new high-capacity combine, Sandvik brand, purchased by the National Salt Society (SALROM) in as part of the company's extensive re-technological program.
Stefan-Radu Oprea says that the event took place in Slanic Prahova, where it was announced that the new machine will significantly contribute to increasing salt production and increasing safety at work. "Today we are inaugurating this large Austrian Sandvik machine, which will increase salt production and work safety.
The combine, similar to the one already used at Salina Praid, cost approximately 20 million lei and is part of SALROM's modernization strategy. The salt extracted from here ends up on store shelves, and recently the company started a program of rebranding and expanding the range of products, launching salt with spices and new packaging, such as grinds and jars.
Stefan-Radu Oprea claims that SALROM has also developed a unique tourist concept, 'Cafeaua la Sare,' in its salt pans. We continue to invest not only in exploitation, but also in marketing and tourist services to bring quality Romanian products to the market," Minister Oprea declared.
The new combine at Slanic Prahova has a capacity of 350.000 tons per year, which will triple the salt production. The modern equipment will increase the productivity and safety in operation, at the same time ensuring the stability of the deposit and the optimization of production costs. Before putting the combine into operation, the staff from Slanic attended training courses in Austria to be able to operate safely.
In the context of the increase in the demand for salt and the increase in the prices of raw materials, the rapid and sustained re-engineering of the SALROM branches has become essential. As part of this process, SALROM acquired three mining combines for the salt mines in Praid, Slanic and Ramnicu Valcea Mining Exploitation, as well as another combine intended for the Ocna Dej Salt Mine.
SALROM, regional leader in the marketing of salt and derived products, is the only salt producer in Romania, with approximately 1.500 employees. Owned 51% by the Romanian state through the Ministry of Economy, the rest of its shares belong to Fondul Proprietatea.
