LAST MINUTE information of the Romanian Army regarding the Missions Carried out by the Romanian Military

LAST MOMENT Information Romanian Army Missions in Progress Romanian Military

Romanian army officially informs Romanians again about the last-minute missions carried out by the Ministry of National Defense, which mobilized two C-27J Spartan aircraft of the Romanian Air Force to participate in extinguishing a forest fire that broke out in the area of Moisesti, county Mehedinti.

Romanian army says that the decision was approved as an emergency by the Minister of National Defense, Angel Tilvar, and the planes performed two missions during Friday, November 8. The first mission started around 10.00:90 a.m., when the aircraft took off from the Otopeni Air Transport Base 13.00, followed by a second mission around XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

The intervention of the Air Force comes at the request of the Department for Emergency Situations within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, considering the risk of the fire spreading to other wooded areas. The rugged terrain and the lack of water sources make it difficult to extinguish the fire, thus requiring air support.

The C-27J Spartan aircraft are equipped to carry up to 6.000 liters of water at each pass, allowing a quick and efficient intervention. Since the beginning of 2017, the Romanian Air Force intervened to extinguish several forest fires both on the territory of Romania and in countries such as Albania, France, Slovenia, Greece and North Macedonia.

The Romanian Army also conveys that the Institute for Political Studies of Defense and Military History (ISPAIM), in partnership with the Fatih Institute of Military History in Turkey, organized, between November 5-7, 2024, the international conference "Challenges of Adapting the Military in Times of Conflict. National Experiences and Case Studies", at the Palace of the National Military Circle in Bucharest.

The event was attended by experts in military history and representatives of the academic environment from Southeast Europe, including from Albania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, the Republic of Moldova, Serbia and Turkey, along with researchers and historians from Romania. The purpose of the conference was to facilitate the scientific dialogue on topics related to the history of the war and to create a framework for debate regarding the national experiences of adapting military structures in times of conflict.

The Romanian Army reveals that Simona Cojocaru, Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations, opened the conference with a message in which she emphasized the importance of scientific cooperation and the consolidation of regional dialogue, stating that the Balkans area is a priority for Romania. She emphasized that the promotion of historical research contributes to the strengthening of relations between the states of the region.

Lieutenant General Dragos-Dumitru Iacob, Deputy Chief of the Defense Staff, noted in his speech that understanding wars is crucial for the strategic adaptation of the armed forces, highlighting that the lack of adaptation can have consequences dramatic.
