Romanian post announced that the first postal votes sent by Romanians from the diaspora have already arrived in Romania for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections. According to the company, 184 envelopes containing votes from abroad have been received so far, coming from countries such as Hungary, Greece , Czech Republic, Bulgaria, France, Sweden, Austria and Switzerland.

Romanian post says that this initiative represents a clear commitment to facilitate the exercise of the right to vote by mail for Romanians who live outside the country's borders. The process takes place on the basis of a contract signed between the Romanian Post and the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) and is aligned with the current electoral legislation, which guarantees the right to vote remotely for Romanian citizens in the diaspora.

For the 2024 presidential elections, the Romanian Post has sent an impressive number of over 6.000 envelopes intended for voting by mail, covering both the first round of voting and the possible second round. In parallel, for the parliamentary elections, which include the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, approximately 6.000 envelopes were sent, each containing the necessary documentation for voting by mail.

The Romanian Post assumed an essential role in ensuring an efficient and transparent development of the electoral process. The company aims to offer quality services and ensure that every vote sent by Romanians from the diaspora arrives safely in Romania. Thus, the citizens who chose to express their electoral option by correspondence benefit from a safe and accessible way to participate in the democratic life of the country, regardless of physical distance.
