Nicusor Dan, the mayor of the Capital, recently announced a series of important initiatives to improve the safety infrastructure and to preserve the historical heritage of the city. Among these are the provision of public institutions with automatic defibrillators, the restoration of the Theodor Aman Museum and emergency interventions for public monuments.
Nicosor Dan emphasized that "we are equipping the institutions subordinated to the Capital City Hall with automatic defibrillators", in order to increase safety in the event of a medical emergency. It is about 18 automatic defibrillators, which automatically call the 112 service and will be placed in locations such as homes for the elderly, cultural institutions, the Zoo, the Metropolitan Circus and the Directorate of Social Assistance.
These essential equipment were purchased following a General Council Decision from 2023, as part of a collaboration protocol between the Municipality of Bucharest and the Bucharest Rescue Association. The protocol also includes first aid courses for City Hall employees, over 500 people have already been trained in this regard.
Nicusor Dan also says that the capital city hall has also started the restoration of the facade and roof of the Theodor Aman Museum, a historical monument of great artistic and cultural value. Inaugurated in 1908 and located on CA Rosetti street, the museum preserves the Belle Epoque atmosphere and houses an impressive collection of works signed by Theodor Aman. The building, built in 1868 according to the painter's project, is the first artist house-workshop in Romania.
The financing for the restoration works will be provided from the local budget of the City Hall, with the aim of preserving the original architecture and ensuring public access to this important cultural objective.
Nicusor Dan reveals that starting from Sunday, November 10, 2024, the trams of line 21 will resume their circulation in both directions on Calea Mosilor, after the completion of the safety works on the facade of the Solacolu Inn. The consolidation works continue, but the construction site will only occupy the sidewalk in front of the building, and pedestrian traffic will be redirected to the opposite sidewalk by setting up temporary pedestrian crossings.
The City Hall of the Capital, through the Palatele Brancovenesti Culture Center, launched an auction in SEAP for intervention works on a number of 306 public monuments in Bucharest, of which 93 are classified as historical. These interventions include cleaning, washing, graffiti removal, reconstruction, painting and plastering.
Nicusor Dan confirms that among the monuments that need restoration are the Heroes of the Fatherland, the Heroes of the Air, Dinicu Golescu, Mihai the Brave, Mihai Eminescu and Alexandru Ioan Cuza. The works will be organized in two lots: one for the unclassified monuments and one for the historical ones, and the offers can be submitted until December 2, at 15:00 p.m.
Through these measures, the Capital City Hall demonstrates its commitment to improve the emergency infrastructure, to protect cultural and historical values and to ensure public access to monuments and objectives of interest from Bucharest.
