Nicolae Ciuca, the president of the National Liberal Party (PNL), made a firm statement regarding the economic and political direction that the PNL proposes for the future of Romania. He emphasized that, during his mandate as prime minister, Romania registered one of the largest economic growths in the European Union, based specifically on investments and not on consumption.
"We left one of the biggest economic growths in the European Union, based on investments. It was the first time in Romania that we had a healthy economic growth, based on investments, not on consumption," said Ciuca. He emphasized that this economic approach was a turning point for the Romanian economy, strengthening the basis for a sustainable development.
Ciuca presented the PNL as the only party prepared to support the middle class and the business environment. "The only ally of the middle class and the business environment is PNL. The only party with economic solutions and people ready to apply them is PNL," he added.
Regarding the political opposition, Ciuca warned that a PSD-AUR alliance in government could lead Romania into an economic crisis by 2025. He appealed to the electorate to support a liberal candidate for the position of president and to give the PNL a mandate solid for the implementation of liberal economic policies.
"All we have to do is block the rise of the AUR candidate, elect a liberal president and give the PNL a mandate to build a government around liberal economic ideas," Ciuca emphasized.
Among the main economic ideas proposed by the PNL are the preservation of the single tax rate and the commitment not to increase the VAT, as well as the promise not to introduce new taxes. In addition, PNL is committed to supporting the second pillar of pensions, gradually increasing the contribution from 4,75% to 6% and protecting the threshold for micro-enterprises.
"PNL saved the single quota. PNL saved micro-enterprises. PNL saved people's money from the second pillar of pensions," said Ciuca, emphasizing the importance of the measures for the stability and financial security of Romanians.
Nicolae Ciuca launched an appeal to support a democratic and pro-European future, in the face of a possible PSD-AUR government, which he considers dangerous for the country. "Today's fight is the fight for Romania's democratic and Euro-Atlantic future. It is a fight for the safety and prosperity of Romanians," he declared.
In the end, Ciuca made a direct challenge to his opponents, asking them to discuss important topics for Romania, including the economy, the state-citizen relationship, the country's position within the European Union, foreign policy and defense.
"My opponents are running away from the big issues, which really aim at the future of Romania. I challenge my main opponents to put aside the negative campaign rhetoric and talk to the Romanians about five big themes," concluded Ciuca. These declarations come at a crucial moment, in the context in which the Romanians are preparing for ELECTIONS future.
