Calin Georgescu reacted to the CCR's decision to cancel the presidential elections in Romania and launched a harsh attack on the political class and the justice system in Romania, accusing the political leaders of protecting their sins accumulated over time and that, out of desperation, they ended up committing a "simulacrum" against democracy. He considers that the decision of the Constitutional Court, which caused strong controversies, is the culmination of a maneuver through which the Romanian state trampled on democracy.
"Politicians see their positions in jeopardy, these sinecures that appeared over time. Desperation culminated with this decision of the Court," Georgescu said, stressing that party leaders "were trembling with fear, that the files that will expose them are coming to light." In his opinion, "on the same day, the corrupt system in Romania made a pact with the devil," and the decision of the Constitutional Court (CCR) is a clear expression of the desperation of political leaders.
Calin Georgescu claims that the CCR judges "altered democracy," and sends a firm message to the authorities in Bucharest: "I assure you that the whole world knows what is happening in Romania. In no case will things stay like this."
According to him, the Romanian people remain sovereign, and the authorities will not be able to stop them from demanding their rights. "I can erase anything, but I can't erase history," he added, mentioning that "the whole world is watching Romania, this barbaric act that the oligarchic state did today against democracy."
Calin Georgescu also claims that the international press is informed and that the only existing connection is in America, where he discussed to bring things back to normal. He rejects the idea of hidden support: "There is no state behind me in this situation, only the Romanian people." Referring to the supporters, Georgescu states that people "are free to do what they want," emphasizing that, if they acted in any way, they did it on their own initiative, given that "my campaign budget was zero. "
Despite the pressure, Georgescu claims that he will continue the fight, without fear, and will not leave the country. "I have only one pact, with the Romanian people," he says, expressing his confidence that the elections will be won by voting, despite the political attacks and accusations that, in his view, are reminiscent of those brought against former American President Donald Trump: "Instead of Trump, they changed Georgescu. The same accusations were brought against Trump. The lie hastens, the truth is right."
Calin Georgescu announces that his lawyers will challenge the CCR decision and that they will go to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ). He claims that it is absurd for nine people to decide instead of 19 million citizens, considering that "nothing matters anymore" if such a situation is accepted.
Moreover, he rejects the speculations regarding TikTok or other aspects of the campaign as "taken out of context" and assures that the fight for the truth will continue, being convinced that "the truth will always triumph."
In this context, Georgescu also accuses the secret services in Romania of not doing their job, considering these statements to be inventions without a real basis, intended to affect a "clean and clear" vote. He claims that he even refused a book launch in order not to influence the electoral process in any way.
In the end, Georgescu proclaimed that "the fortress of (George) Soros in Romania has fallen," arguing that the wave of change has already started and cannot be stopped. He urges the public to look "all over the world," citing the example of France to show that similar phenomena are happening on other meridians, thus trying to give his struggle a global dimension.
