Marcel Ciolacu, president of PSD and prime minister of Romania, published an official message announcing that the decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) regarding the annulment of the presidential elections represents the only correct solution, after the documents from the meeting of the Supreme Council of Defense of the Country (CSAT) were declassified and revealed the fact that the result of the Romanian vote was blatantly distorted by the intervention of Russia.
Marcel Ciolacu he says at the same time that the investigations of the authorities must clarify who are guilty of the attempt to massively influence the outcome of the presidential election.
"Romanians need clear answers from the authorities, based on solid evidence, because the public's trust in the state institutions and in the democratic processes that are the basis of the country's functioning depends fundamentally on this investigation," declared Ciolacu.
Marcel Ciolacu also emphasized the importance of validating the mandates of the new Parliament and achieving a pro-European parliamentary majority, which would support the rapid appointment of a new government. The priority of this government must be the continuation of Romania's European development path.
The PSD president mentioned that his party signed, together with PNL, USR, UDMR and the representatives of the minorities, an agreement in this sense, considering that, at this moment, the parties must put a single national objective first: stopping the extremist forces.
The appointment of the new pro-European government represents, according to Ciolacu, an important signal for the economic environment and for foreign investors, especially in the context of the worrying reactions of the last two weeks.
Also, the appointment of this government is essential to protect Romanians' incomes and to build a budget for the year 2025, which will guarantee the continuation of investment projects made from European funds.
Thus, Marcel Ciolacu highlighted the need for quick decisions and an effective collaboration between political parties in order to restore the political and economic stability of the country, but also to strengthen citizens' trust in the institutions democratically and in the electoral process.
