ALARM signal of the Romanian Church regarding Tomorrow's Protests in Romania

ALARM signal of the Romanian Church Protests Tomorrow Romania

Romanian Church sent a firm message addressed to the parishes and monasteries of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, as well as to those from other dioceses, urging the clergy and believers not to participate in protest actions planned for Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Romanian Church says that these demonstrations were organized at the initiative of some groups associated with some political parties, aiming to mobilize believers against the Constitutional Court of Romania and other state institutions.

According to the official communique of the Romanian Church, these actions contravene both the law and the principles of social peace. The Romanian Church warns that such instigations can have negative consequences for the clergy and believers involved, stressing the importance of avoiding any involvement in actions that could fuel tensions in society.

"We are sending an exhortation to the parishes and monasteries so that the priests, monks and believers do not get involved and do not participate in such actions contrary to both the law and social peace," reads the communique issued by the Romanian Church.

At the same time, the institution reaffirmed its traditional role as a promoter of prayer and peace of mind, considering that these are essential for the good of society. The Church emphasizes that peace and dialogue are the best ways to resolve conflicts and strengthen social harmony.

This call comes in the context where groups affiliated to some political parties suggested the organization of protests and street movements, trying to mobilize the parishioners through the parishes. However, the Romanian Church considers that the involvement of clerics and believers in such actions could seriously affect the institution's image and social cohesion.

Through this message, the Romanian Church reaffirms its commitment to the Christian values of peace and unity, calling for wisdom and responsibility on the part of everyone.
