Sorin Grindeanu, Minister of Transport, recently announced the launch of two major projects in the field of general aviation, by establishing two new structures under the aegis of the Romanian Aeroclub. Thus, the order was issued regarding the establishment of the “Aurel Raican” Territorial Aeroclub in Ianca, Brila County, as well as the “Mircea Zorileanu” Territorial Aeroclub in Brasov, Ghimbav area.
Sorin to Grindean says that the normative act is part of the compliance with Government Decision no. 567/1991, which regulates the organization and functioning of the Romanian Aeroclub. According to Decision no. 966/2022, the right of administration over a public property, located in Ianca, was transferred to the Romanian Aeroclub.
The 270.000 sq m area, registered in CF 72077 Ianca, includes a runway, shoulder strips, taxiways and the associated land, representing the basis for the establishment of the new territorial aeroclub.
The regulatory act also provides for the administration of the assets indicated in Annex 2 to the Government Decision, located on the same land, thus facilitating the creation of the necessary infrastructure for aeronautical operations.
The establishment of this center in Brila County will have the role of ensuring the training and improvement of civil aeronautical personnel, but also of functioning as a high-performance sports structure, contributing to the development of the local and national community.
Sorin Grindeanu stressed that this initiative will revitalize general aviation in the Ianca area and stimulate young people's interest in aeronautical sports activities. "The new territorial aeroclub will be a true catalyst for the development of aviation in the region, opening up professional and sports training opportunities for passionate young people," he said.
On the other hand, the establishment of the Territorial Aeroclub "Mircea Zorileanu" in the Ghimbav area, Brasov, completes the national strategy for modernizing the aeronautical infrastructure and supporting general aviation. The project meets the need to provide space and resources for training new talents and for promoting the aeronautical field among young people.
Sorin Grindeanu says that the name “Aurel Raican” honors a pioneer of Romanian aviation: Major General Aurel Raican was the first Romanian pilot to fly a jet plane, in 1951, right at the Ianca airfield. This historical reference contributes to the consolidation of Romanian aviation identity and tradition.
These measures represent an important step in the modernization and revitalization of the general aviation sector in Romania, facilitating access to professional training and opening new perspectives for aeronautical athletes across the country.
