E.ON LAST-MINUTE Caps Announced Romanian Government Emergency Ordinance

E.ON, the electricity and natural gas supply group on which millions of Romanians depend every day, confirms that the Romanian Government has adopted, through GEO 6/2025, a set of additional measures aimed at protecting consumers against drastic increases in energy prices.

E.ON brings to our immediate attention the fact that starting April 1, 2025, the price cap will apply for 3 months for electricity - until June 30, 2025 - and for natural gas, this support scheme will be valid for 12 months, until March 31, 2026.

This is a temporary support scheme implemented by the government, designed to reduce the financial impact caused by the increase in energy costs. The measure comes as concrete help for families in Romania, allowing them to benefit from regulated electricity and gas prices, even in the context of market fluctuations.

E.ON has already confirmed that it will implement the new regulations as soon as possible. Company representatives stressed the importance of all capping measures being implemented correctly and promptly, so that all customers benefit from the capped prices. This decision reaffirms E.ON's commitment to providing support in the context of a global energy crisis.

LAST-MINUTE E.ON Caps Announced Following the Romanian Government Emergency Ordinance

Until March 31, 2025, the support measures were regulated by GEO 192/2022, Law 357/2022 (which updates GEO 27/2002) and supplemented by GEO 119/2022 and GEO 32/2024, with special attention to prosumers. With the entry into force of GEO 6/2025, the new provisions will apply, bringing essential changes in the way the price cap is implemented.

E.ON announces that, in order to ensure a balance between energy consumption and the protection of families' budgets, the capped prices for household consumers are set as follows: 0 – 100 kWh monthly: The final maximum price, including VAT, is 0.68 lei/kWh. This option applies in particular to those using medical equipment, families with at least 3 children (or one child in the case of single-parent families) and also to tenants in the aforementioned categories.

100.01 – 255 kWh monthly: Consumers in this category will benefit from a capped price of 0.80 lei/kWh, VAT included. Over 255 kWh, but under 300 kWh: For this category, the first 255 kWh are charged at 0.80 lei/kWh, and any additional consumption, up to 300 kWh, will be billed at 1.30 lei/kWh. Over 300 kWh monthly: The maximum capped price is set at 1.30 lei/kWh, VAT included.

E.ON says that the implementation of these measures represents a real support for consumers, especially in a period when energy prices are constantly fluctuating. By capping prices, the government, together with leading companies in the sector, such as E.ON, aim to ensure responsible consumption and increased protection of family budgets.

This temporary scheme is an effective solution to mitigate the negative effects of rising costs, while guaranteeing access to energy at regular prices. Amidst the legislative changes in the energy field, E.ON stands out through a firm commitment to its customers, ensuring the rapid and correct implementation of the new regulations.

To benefit from the capped prices, consumers are encouraged to inform themselves and check the specific details applicable to their situation, thus taking advantage of the measures intended to ENSURING financial stability in a period of economic uncertainty.
