Sebastian Burduja: Important Announcement for the Energy Sector in Romania

Sebastian Burduja Important Announcement Energy Sector Romania

Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Energy, marked an important day for the energy sector with his visit to Portile de Fier I, where he confirmed the full operation of the six groups of the hydroelectric power plant. This achievement represents a premiere after many years of complex maintenance works, and in recent weeks, hydro units 1 and 5 have been successfully added to the system.

Sebastian Burduja stressed the importance of collaboration between Romanian companies, noting the excellent results achieved by the team formed by Hidroelectrica, UCMH and Hidroserv. "Everything was delivered on time and within a reasonable budget," he said, highlighting that such projects are essential for the modernization of the country's energy infrastructure.

In his speech, Burduja compared the evolution of the energy sector to the transformation of the highway sector, where Romanian companies have managed to teach a lesson to foreign competitors, often larger and more powerful. "I wish that large and complex works could be carried out by Romanian companies," the minister said, insisting that investments in energy will lead, in the long run, to lower bills for consumers and to the consolidation of the national economy.

Another important aspect of the statements was the energy production mix. According to the presentations, hydro production exceeds 2000MW, complemented by almost 1000MW of wind energy, as well as contributions from gas, coal and nuclear production, which remains constant at over 1300MW.

Investments attracted from European grants worth 14 billion euros are starting to bear fruit, marking a remarkable change after decades of stagnation in the sector.

Sebastian Burduja concluded with a message of trust and unity, emphasizing that patience, trust and stability are essential ingredients for the long-term success of energy investments.

"The effect will be fantastic not only for bills, but also for our economy - because we will no longer import energy, but will export our surplus," said the minister, calling on us to act together for a sustainable energy and economic future.
