In 2016, only 3% of smartphones will not have a touchscreen

The iPhone 2G was the smartphone that started the implementation of capacitive touchscreens in smartphones because Apple managed to implement a screen so good that the rest of the smartphone manufacturers had to change their tactics to stay competitive. Before the launch of the iPhone terminal, only 7% of smartphones had touch screens and those that had a touchscreen could only be used well with the help of a stylus considering that the screens were not designed to respond even that well to the interaction with the human finger.

A US analytics company estimated that by the end of 2016, 93% of smartphones will have touch screens and only 3% will remain with physical keyboards. In that small percentage, of course, we see terminals from BlackBerry, business class terminals from Nokia and a few other terminals from some Android smartphone manufacturers. The smartphone industry has evolved a lot in recent years, and in terms of capacitive touchscreen technology, all praise goes to Apple, which had the courage to change the way we interact with phones. If the iPhone 2G had not appeared in 2007, then by now we would all have a stylus crammed into our phone.
