iOS 5 GM, what it means, when it appears, what it brings

iOS 5 Gold Master, GM for short, is the final version of the operating system that Apple releases first only for iOS application developers, giving them the opportunity to test it and report any problems encountered. This version of an operating system is generally released to developers about 2-3 weeks before the release from iTunes and usually the GM version is published without changes as the final version of an operating system. In general, in the case of major versions of iOS, Apple releases a GM version during the presentation conference of some products and new functions implemented in the operating system.

Year iOS 5 GM should be released next week, according to some information received from Apple's partners, but if this is true then next week we should also see the iPhone 5 presentation conference. These GM versions contain all the innovations implemented by Apple for users, more than the available available in beta versions and theoretically they remain unchanged during the entire period of availability for developers. Last year, iOS 4.2 was available in the GM version for a few weeks and just a few days before the launch, Apple made some substantial changes by releasing a changed version that upset the plans of the Dev Team who failed to make a untethered jailbreak solution for several months.

iOS 5 GM will NOT be jailbroken or decoded with new programs because the Dev Team is waiting for the final release, so don't get your hopes up that you will be able to install the GM version and decode an iPhone with non-decodeable baseband. iOS 5 GM will be able to be jailbroken on all current devices, except iPad 2, but it will be a tethered jailbreak. iOS 5 GM is just the preamble to the release of iOS 5 and as soon as it appears we will know absolutely everything that Apple has prepared for its users.

Having said that, you now know what a GM version of an operating system means.

  1. exactly what I was saying since Feb. when his Arab muscleman and friend lied to us... JB will be increasingly difficult to achieve and in the future it will disappear... there is no one left to rely on... those who were capable ended up either on Facebook or on maru' lu' Steve…. those who remained are only the liars who didn't do anything... as for unlocking... slim chances... so don't worry... don't rush to buy coded phones at low prices... better get neverlock and you know a job... or wait for the release of iph and in Romania.

  2. If within the first month after the release of iOS5, JB untethered does not appear, I will unquestionably switch to Android, and that's why I'm eyeing the SGS2, but still, I'm waiting to see how iOS5 is. If it wasn't for Cydia, I wouldn't like my iPhone.

  3. but iOS 5 is known, but there will be some new functions, but now I think iOS5 is excellent, you have nothing to do with S2, you get bored quickly, and the front camera doesn't even work on Skype, it's crap

  4. @Bodu: It is clear that you are a staunch Apple fan. I was like that once too, now I'm realistic, Android is over iOS, although I'm sorry to say that considering I own an iPhone.

PS: Your answer to what I wrote doesn't really make sense, but hey, it's accepted. 😉

  5. If you have a neverlocked iPhone, you won't feel the need for jb anytime soon. I didn't feel the need for jb on the ipad 2 and I probably wouldn't have needed jb on the iphone either, were it not for the unlock. Anyway, unlock solutions will no longer work. So go for the never-locked iPhones. It will be the only way.

  6. @Bogdan : Let's say I'm an application developer, and to be honest, to develop an application you have to start from the premise that in the end you'll make some money, and Apple is the only company that knew how to educate its customers to buy applications again that's why it attracted and attracts thousands of developers. Do you know when I port my apps to Android? When I take my money out of them from the AppStore.
And as I said, the fact that you switch from iOS to Android is no loss for Apple because you are not in their target.
Exactly like I would make an application about Ocarina and you would tell me that you will never buy it. Very well, you are not in my target, I am addressing someone else.
In the same way, I heard a discussion with WoW, God it's the end of the game because 800.000 accounts were canceled. Extraordinary, out of 11 million players, 800 thousand canceled, this does not mean that there were not 10 million left who give 15 euros per month.
    My 2 cents
