We are also impressed with Apple’s ability to monetize its innovative products through selling high-margin consumer products that drive strong earnings results and growth trends for Apple shareholders. A case in point is the mobile phone market, where most handset OEMs struggle to post a profit or even 10% operating margins (except RIM and recently HTC), while we estimate Apple boasts roughly 50% gross margin and 30%+ operating margin for its iPhone products.

Apple sa davvero come trarre profitto dal successo dei terminali iPhone e impone le proprie condizioni quando firma i contratti con gli operatori di telefonia mobile affinché Apple ottenga un profitto più che buono dai suoi terminali. Purtroppo gli altri produttori non possono permettersi di fare lo stesso perché rimarrebbero senza mercato e preferirebbero ottenere un profitto minore e vendere di più.
La mia opinione è che di questo passo Apple finirà per imporre condizioni sempre più rigide e probabilmente prima o poi si creerà una rottura da qualche parte, anche se i suoi terminali saranno "molto richiesti".
