Everyone knows the anti-smoking campaigns and the scientific studies that keep telling us that smoking is harmful not only for active smokers but also for passive ones. Well... two Mac owners found themselves with a warranty AppleCare refused by Apple on the grounds that they used the Macs in an environment where they were exposed to cigarette smoke. Maybe it seemed strange, especially for someone from Romania, where the guarantees are made as in the market and such an "excuse" would probably have brought the "guarantee guy" a few curses, but the people from Apple are not joking at all! It seems that computers kept in such environments for a long time benefit from a thick layer of brown "dust" that settles on the components and destroys them over time. Those from Apple are very serious, it seems, since the two clients have reached with their case up to Steve Jobs themselves, but without luck, they received the same categorical refusal of warranty.
