Tutorial: How to recover deleted photos after jailbreak with Spirit

The first version of Spirit it wasn't quite so successful as some of you lost the photos from the Camera Roll after doing the update, but it seems that there is a solution to recover those photos and today I will show you how.

For this back-up to work, you must have made a back-up with iTunes before using Spirit, otherwise you have no reason to follow the tutorial. At every sync iTunes save a back-up with the data from your phone, so the phone must be synchronized with iTunes before using Spirit.

To recover the photos you need to install OpenSSH on the phone, download iPhone Backup Extractor: 32bits, 64bits and ifunbox from here.

Step 1

Download iPhone Backup Extractor, connect the phone to the PC and open the program.

Step 2

After opening the program, select from the menu the last backup made BEFORE using Spirit. If you select a back-up made after using Spirit then this tutorial has no effect.

Step 3

After you have selected the backup, press next and leave the bottom option selected which allows you to choose what from the backup to restore and press next.

Step 4

In the new menu, select the Media folder, and then check the Media subfolder again as you can see in the picture below and press next.

Step 5

Select the location where you want to save the backup, if you select several folders, it is possible that the application will freeze momentarily, so be patient, it will recover.

Step 6

Now you have the pictures saved on your desktop in the folder chosen to be extracted from the backup. If you want to transfer the photos to your phone, then open ifunbox, navigate to /User/Media/ and paste the folder over the old one.
