How much traffic do FaceTime video calls consume using the 3G network

Shortly after the release of the jailbreak solution for iPhone 4, the first application that allows it appeared to use the FaceTime function via a 3G network instead of WiFi, according to the standard imposed by Apple. The quality is clearly inferior to a call made via the WiFi network, but it is satisfactory for a call made in a hurry. when you are not near a WiFi hotspot. Apple said that it will not officially allow the use of the FaceTime function through the 3G network (for now) because the operators cannot offer a decent speed for the call to go through without problems, and he is right, but he also said that he does not want to overcrowd the networks operators.

Considering what has been said, let's see how much traffic a video call made via 3G using the FaceTime function consumes, and we have 2 tests: the first test belongs to those from 9to5Mac, who calculated that a 5-minute FaceTime call consumes 14.7 MB of traffic (7.7 MB download and 7 MB upload), i.e. approximately 3 MB/minute; and the second test was done by iSpazio who calculated that a FaceTime video call via 3G consumes approximately 2.5MB/minute, so a result almost identical to that of the guys from 9to5Mac.

So FaceTime calls via 3G consume quite a lot of traffic/minute and the quality is not really great, but now you know how much traffic you consume when you use this function via your operator's 3G network.
