The new Apple TV

Apple launched this evening the long-awaited Apple TV with a new design, the product is 4 times smaller than the old model and is entirely based on streaming content. The new Apple TV has an HDMI port to connect to a screen, a USB port, an audio output and an ethernet port to connect to an Internet network, but it also has a WiFi n chip for those who don't want to use it too many cables. The new toy will only stream video in HD (720p) format, but the entire content will have to be downloaded via streaming, Apple managing to conclude several important contracts with ABC and Fox that will offer TV series and shows for only $0.99 an episode but Apple will also offer movies in HD format for a rental cost of $4.99.

Using the Airplay function from the new iOS 4.2 on the iPad you will be able to stream directly to Apple TV, so you can keep all your favorite movies on the tablet and with the help of the small Apple TV you can watch them anywhere at any time with the help of WiFi.

The Apple TV costs just $99 and will be available for delivery sometime this month.
