Photo: The new iPod Touch 4G has only 256MB of RAM, it is weaker than the iPhone 4

Those from iFixIt yesterday they got their hands on an iPod Touch 4G and opened it up to see what Apple managed to "hide" in such a thin device, and what are the main differences compared to the iPhone 4. First of all, the "vibrate" function " your presence of Apple on the official website does not exist, so Apple failed to properly modify the pictures for the new iPod Touch 4G. Secondly, you will be quite disappointed with the iPod Touch 4 if you think of buying it instead of an iPhone 4 because:

  • it has only 256MB of RAM instead of 512 as the iPhone 4 has;
  • does not have GPS:
  • it has a camera that takes pictures of a much lower quality than the iPhone 4;
  • the battery is weaker than that of iPhone 4: 3.44 Whr on iPod Touch 4 vs 5.25 Whr on iPhone 4;
  • it doesn't have an IPS screen like the iPhone 4.

The good news is that the iPod Touch 4G has a "retina" screen and the A4 chip of the iPad and iPhone 4, but it has only one WiFi antenna and, as iFixIt says, it is more difficult to repair than its predecessors. To be honest, I expected that after the release of the iPod Touch 4G, things would "deflate" a bit because everyone was praising it, but Apple had to make it weaker than the iPhone 4 in order not to destroy its sales.

Here's how much an iPod Touch 4G costs at Apple USA:

  • $229 for the 8GB model;
  • $299 for the 32GB model.
  • $399 for the 64GB model.

The prices for iPod Touch 4G in Europe are:

  • €239 for the 8GB model;
  • €309 for the 32GB model.
  • €419 for the 64GB model.

Again, much, much higher prices than in the US, but we should get used to this from now on. So, who gets an iPod Touch 4G?
