Today HTC held a press conference in London where it presented, among other things, the new HTC Desire HD and Z terminals, which run Android 2.2 Froyo and will compete directly with Apple's iPhone 4 terminal. First of all, we have the new one HTC Desire HD which has a 4.3-inch capacitive WVGA touchscreen, 1Ghz SnapDragon processor, 768 MB RAM and 1.5 GB ROM, an 8 megapixel camera, dual LED flash and the ability to record HD at 720p. The terminal is very well equipped in terms of hardware, but in your hand you will feel it is very large thanks to the 4.3 inch screen.

HTC Desire Z is a terminal equipped with a physical QWERTY keyboard and a new opening system consisting of some "straps" positioned in the shape of Z, hence the name of the terminal. You'll notice right from the start how quickly it opens, but while working through it you notice that the operating system moves quite hard, even though it has a powerful hardware behind it. HTC Desire Z has an 800 Mhz processor (hence the lag), 512MB RAM and 1.5 GB ROM, a 5 megapixel camera, dual LED flash and the ability to film HD at 720p and a capacitive S-LCD WVGA screen of 3.7 inches.

HTC Desire has a nice design and will probably be the main competitor of the iPhone 4 terminal. HTC Desire Z is not to my taste, and its hardware will certainly "stop" many from buying it.

What do you think, will HTC "bite" iPhone 4 sales with the new terminals?
