HP has finally launched the tablet it has been working on for some time under the name of HP Slate 500, the first model is already in the hands of those from Engadget and it seems that the iPad tablet could have a serious competitor in the HP Slate that will run a mobile version of Windows 7. The tablet has an 8.9 inch screen and "under the hood" we find an Intel Atom processor, Z540 of 1.86Ghz, 2GB RAM , a 64GB SSD, Broadcomm Crystal HD accelerator for running video content in 1080p format, VGA front camera and a 3 megapixel one mounted on the back and 1024×600 resolution. In the video clip you can see that HP has managed to optimize Windows 7 to run as well as possible on capacitive screens, so in this regard there should be no problems, at the same time the system seems very fast in the brief presentation, but it remains to be seen how it will handle daily use.

HP Slate will be oriented mainly for the enterprise area because HP has prepared several tablets with WebOS 2.0 for the mainstream area, but this will certainly not prevent those who are eager to buy HP Slate regardless of the target to which it will be "pushed" HP. The tablet would cost $799, so a little less than the iPad 3G-WiFi of 64Gb and this difference could count in the decision of some of those who will think about purchasing an Internet tablet in the future.
