Today we received a very interesting question from a Cosmote user who wants to buy an iPhone 4 but does not know whether to choose Vodafone or Orange. The question is very good and I am sure that there are people among you who may want to purchase an iPhone 4 but do not know from which of the 2 operators to purchase the terminal. First of all, let's talk about the price: the Orange iPhone 4 has a starting price 169€ for the 16GB version and 269€ for the 32GB version and can reach up to 5-600 euros depending on your subscription; Vodafone does not yet know the prices, however rumors indicates that the prices could be a bit higher than at Orange.
If the price is not a problem, then let's talk about the network: Orange has a pretty good GSM network with an acceptable coverage on EDGE but quite limited for 3G, basically 3G is only in cities but not in all; Vodafone boasts that it has somewhat better coverage than Orange and from what I understand the 3G network is somewhat more extensive. Regarding the internet offers: at Orange you can activate one of the My SmartPhone or My SmartPhone Plus options with the purchase of an iPhone, or you can choose one of the 2 standard mobile internet options or one of the options Colibri which costs at least €15; at Vodafone the situation is almost as "unpleasant" because standard mobile internet options are almost as expensive as Orange and offer just as little monthly traffic, but at Vodafone there is a 10 euro option that offers 1GB of monthly traffic at speeds of 7.2Mbps, which is expensive anyway from my point of view.
From the point of view of call quality I assume that both networks offer the same quality, I don't think this could be a reason to choose one over the other unless you are in an area with poor coverage where the call quality would be really affected.
In conclusion, you must first of all know what your needs are and then try to see which mobile phone operator can satisfy them completely or for the most part. For now, Vodafone has not published any information regarding the availability of the iPhone 4 terminal, so it is quite premature to receive advice from anyone regarding the choice of any of the 2 mentioned networks.
