It seems that Google has finally arrived in Romania with the StreetView service and the first areas where you will be able to use it include the region between Prahova Valley and the Romanian coast. In recent years, Google maps for Romania have improved considerably and this is a great benefit for iPhone users because now we can confidently use the Maps application almost anywhere in Romania. StreetView covers an area of approximately 6000km² in Romania, so there are many places that you can view using it.

Ok, this service is available, but how can we use it from our terminals?

Maybe some of you already know how to use it, but for those who don't know yet, here are some simple steps:

Step 1

Connect to a 3G/Wi-Fi data network, activate the GPS and open the Maps application.

Step 2

Select an area where the StreetView service is available. I said above that it is available in the region between Valea Prahova and Constanta. For the test I used the city of Constanta and notice that the streets where StreetView is available are marked with a red border. If the street does not have this red border on it then you will not be able to use Google StreetView.

Step 3

After you have found a street that has StreetView, press the button at the bottom right of the Maps application and select Drop Pin, make sure that the Pin displays the correct street name, otherwise you will not be able to use StreetView.

Step 4

Once you have chosen the street and marked it with the Pin, you will notice a border in which it says Dropped Pin and the name of the street. In that border you will notice a small round icon with a bust, click on that icon and Google StreetView will be automatically opened on your terminal.

Once you have opened the interface, click on the arrows to navigate.

To exit this interface, just click on the circle on the bottom right.

UPDATED: I added to the beginning of the article the official clip made by Google to promote this new service.
