iPad 2 with A5 processor, without Retina Display and SD slot presented on March 2 together with iOS 5

Last evening, Engadget published an article in PRESENTS information about iPad 2 obtained from a source close to Apple. If you remember, about a month ago Engadget wrote an article in which it was said that the iPad 2 will have a screen with a better resolution, SD slot, dual core processor, new design, etc. Now things have changed and the people from Engadget claim that the iPad 2 will have the same screen, the same resolution, it will not have an SD slot, it will be thinner, it will have more RAM and of course an A5 processor that I don't know anything about. They claim that Apple would have problems with the production process and that it would have given up at the last moment on the implementation of new components in the iPad 2 tablet.

Notably, that SD card slot and higher resolution display won't make it into the new model (the latter we'd been hearing rumblings about for a little while). What's the cause of the switch? Well our sources weren't crystal clear on the exact reasons, but the gist of what was explained to us centered around vague "engineering issues" which may have forced some changes at the eleventh hour. It's worth noting once again that these sources have been dead right on specific Apple plans and specifications for unannounced products in the past, and we have no reason to believe these changes are due to anything more than legitimate engineering decisions made close to launch.

Those from Engadget say that at the conference for the iPad 2 presentation we could also witness a short presentation of iOS 5 for iDevices. Personally, I think that Apple will only present iOS 4.3 and will hold a separate conference, as it did last year, to present iOS 5 and release a first beta version. There are only a few days left until the presentation of the iPad 2 tablet, but until then more and more rumors will appear.
