The iPad 2 battery is almost 2 times larger than the one in the iPad

During last night's keynote, Steve Jobs said that the iPad 2 will have the same battery life as the iPad and that the new components have a reduced energy consumption. In reality, Apple almost doubled the size of the battery to support this 10-hour autonomy, and you can see in image above how the new iPad 2 battery looks compared to the iPad. It's interesting how year after year iDevice batteries get bigger and bigger and the internal components get smaller and smaller to compensate for the increase in battery size. More amazing is that Apple manages to make devices thinner and thinner with each release.

Imagine the autonomy the iPad would have had with the battery from the iPad 2, I'm thinking of almost 15 hours of use.
