Personal HotSpot allows you to initiate FaceTime calls over 3G

FaceTime is a feature available on iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, Macs and iPad 2 that allows users to make video calls using the front cameras of the devices or a webcam on the Mac. This function has been limited by Apple to work only through a Wi-Fi network in order to preserve the video/audio quality of calls. Personal HotSpot is a new feature implemented in iOS 4.3 that allows iPhone owners to turn their device into a Wi-Fi HotSpot and share their Internet connection with other terminals.

Considering that Personal HotSpot makes a Wi-Fi HotSpot, we can the whole world an iPhone 4 to that HotSpot as if it were connecting to a Wi-Fi network and we can do FaceTime even if in essence they work on a 3G connection. Before we could do this with 2 iPhone 4 terminals and MyWi installed on one of them, but now we can do this with an iPhone 4 and an iPod Touch 4G or with 2 iPhone 4 terminals. Considering that the video call will work through a 3G data network you don't expect extraordinarily good call quality, but at least now you can make them.

In Cydia there are several applications that enable the possibility to make FaceTime calls via 3G, but now you can do this without jailbreak.
