Although initially iPad 2 was available on Apple's online store with immediate delivery from stock, today, a day and a half after the opening of the order session, the iPad tablet becomes available with delivery in 3-4 weeks. Apple stores in the US and the company's partners have sold all GSM and Wi-Fi Only models, the only models available in stock being the CDMA ones. Apple had a very limited stock of iPad 2 tablets and thousands/tens of thousands of people remained in queues in front of the stores after the stocks were exhausted but unfortunately the employees sent them home yesterday and today without even receiving a tablet new in stock.
The situation is identical to that of last year when Apple ran out of iPad 2 tablets extremely quickly, but this year we are talking about a much larger demand and about initial sales that will probably surprise many. Last year Apple sold over 300.000 tablets in the first weekend, and this year American analysts expect the number to double or even triple. One thing is certain, iPad 2 GSM is no longer available in the USA and in the online store the orders placed now will be honored only after the international launch on March 25.
