iOS 5 and iPhone 3GS - what you need to know

Lately, I have noticed more and more questions related to iPhone 3GS and iOS 5. As you already know, Apple stopped offering support for iPhone 3G starting with iOS 4.2.1, which was also the last version of iOS 4 for the old iPhone 3G. Apple stopped offering support for the iPhone 3G due to the performance problems the terminal had. In order to get rid of consumer complaints, Apple preferred to forget about iPhone 3G and offer iOS 4.3 only on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

Now some of you are wondering if iOS 5 will also work on the iPhone 3GS or not, considering what happened last fall with the iPhone 3G. From my point of view, iOS 5 will run on the iPhone 3GS right from the start, even if from a performance point of view it won't do very well. iOS 4.3 runs more difficult on the iPhone 3GS than on the iPhone 4, and this is because of the weaker processor and the halved RAM. I expect iOS 5 to work on the iPhone 3GS just as iOS 4 works on the iPhone 3G because Apple indirectly "forces" consumers to buy the latest version of the iPhone by limiting the performance of previous versions.

Do not expect Apple to offer iOS 5 for iPhone 3GS until the release of iOS 6 because the terminal will work hard, there will be complaints from users and it is very likely to reach the situation of last year with iPhone 3G. When you buy an iPhone, you must understand a simple principle: the terminal is "fashionable" for 1 year, then Apple limits its performance. So the company forces people to buy the newest versions which, of course, have no performance problems.

If you have an iPhone 3GS, prepare to give it up after the release of iOS 5, either Apple will oblige you, or you will get tired of the terminal's performance.
