The rumors have come true, Apple today launched a the new line of the famous iMac including Thunderbolt and Sandy Bridge technologies in the new products, but the surprises don't stop there. The new iMacs will have HD web cameras compatible with FaceTime HD technology, they will have new graphics cards 3 times faster than the old versions, but they will also have affordable prices. All iMacs have Thunderbolt ports, but the 27-inch versions have 2 ports each. Prices start at $1199 for the 21.5-inch version and go up to $2000 for the 27-inch version with a 3.1 Ghz processor.
Apple claims that the new iMac line is 70% faster than the old series, so an upgrade would definitely be worth it. Thunderbolt technology allows users to copy files at speeds of up to several hundred MB, but only between products compatible with the technology. The Sandy Bridge processors are the main reason for this increase in the performance of the new iMac line, Apple finally bringing the iMac "up to date" with the MacBook Pro. The FaceTime HD function allows video conferences with other Macs or iDevices, but for Macs the video quality will be in HD format and for iDevices we are talking about standard quality.

- 27-inch iMac: Intel Core i7 2.7GHz quad-core with 6MB L3 cache, 1TB HDD (configurable up to 2TB), 4 GB DDR 3 RAM (configurable up to 16GB), AMD Radeon HD 6770M video card with 512 MB GDDR5 RAM, 2 Thunderbolt ports - estimated price €1650.
- 27-inch iMac: Intel Core i7 3.1GHz quad-core with 6MB L3 cache (configurable up to 3.4 Ghz), HDD 1TB (configurable up to 2TB), 4 GB DDR 3 RAM (configurable up to 16GB), video card AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 1GB GDDR5 RAM (configurable up to 2GB), 2 Thunderbolt ports - estimated price €1900.
