Dev Team - important progress in the development of jailbreak solutions for iPad 2 and iPhone 5

2 hours ago MuscleNerd published on Twitter a picture that suggests that he managed to exploit the bootrom of the A5 chip in the iPad 2. He published a picture with a piece of code obtained from a bootloader, we assume that it's of the iPad 2, in which it shows us how much humor Apple engineers have when they write software codes. It is supposed to be about the iPad 2 bootloader because that is what MuscleNerd is investigating now and if it was an old bootloader the information would have been discovered already last year.

Last week I have announced that geohot will buy an iPad 2 tablet and will try to exploit the same bootrom of the A5 chip in the iPad 2, but it seems that the Dev Team got ahead of him. Why is it important to discover an exploit for the bootrom in the A5 chip? It is important because the same bootrom will be available in iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5G, so an exploitation of the bootrom will lead to the discovery of a permanent jailbreak solution. Of course, for now we are only speculating that MuscleNerd talked about the A5 chip, but confirmation will come soon.

Of course, such an exploit will not be released before the iPhone 5 or iPod Touch 5G, so we will probably have it available sometime in the fall of this year.
